The Southern Classic is here!

Postby Bluepeter » Tue Feb 02, 2010 1:41 am

Okay guys and gals, the Southern Classic will be held in Washington NC on the same corner, on the same main stage Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th.
Saturdays lineup will start at 10:00 and will feature in this order:
Pamlico Regional
Open Goose
World Swan

Sundays events will start at 12:00 and will feature, in order:
NC Junior Duck
NC Junior Goose
World Jr Swan
NC State Duck
NC State Goose

Had to go to a 2-day event because last year it took me 14 hours to finish up, which was after 8 pm. I know this set-up may not work for everyone, but it will make it easier to manage for all of us.
Same great sponsors this year: Tar-Pamlico Delta Waterfowl, NC Ducks Unlimited, East Carolina Wildfowl Guild, ABC Calls,Illinois River Valley Calls, NC Sportsman Magazine, Rig'em Right, and Neuse Sport Shop.

Once again, the pleasure was all mine! The weather was rough saturday and many people were no-shows, but Sunday was great. There were 1st timers to our contests present, and many deserving callers brought their A-game and benefited from it. I owe a great deal of debt to all my judges, all of whom had great credentials for their efforts and time, as well as my sponsors and donors. Many thanks to all the parents, wives, girlfriends, etc who tolerate this crazy sport. Most of all congratulations to all the winners and Kruger cup point winners.
For those who don't know yet:
Fath took the state duck
Hock took the state goose
Waterfield mouth-called himself into the World Swan (& kept it in-state)
and Toler took the Regional.

Thanks again to all,
B'Peter

Shawn, Thanks again for all the effort you put into the event. It was a great show despite the weather. Congratulation to all the callers that stepped up on stage, takes allot of nerve to just get up there. Can't wait until next year, always a great event to attend thanks to all the sponsors and callers.

BPeter,

Thanks for your efforts in putting this together. The new format with the two day schedule is a lot better than the one day. Hate the weather kept away some of the callers and probably some of the visitors to the festival on Saturday. Man it was cold!!!

Already looking forward to the event next year and hopefully to Stuttgart to support the ABC boys representing NC. Its been said many times but Allen and Julie are top notch folks and it shows through those associated with them.

Congrats to not only the winners but to all those with the ability to get up there and call. Many of them are on the board here. Seeing Blake's smile and him about to bounce off the stage when he realized he was the last man standing in the Youth Goose was enough to make the weekend worthwhile.

Agreed, TD. Blake and his dad have always proven themselves to be true gentlemen and sportsmen. Win or lose, they're both happy to just be there. Never shy to say "thank you", "see ya next year" or "look out-here we come". That was truly the darndest goose comp I've ever seen. Right after the first round I immediately knew there would be a tie. I've never seen scores so close. Even the judges were amazed. Blake seemed to step it up a notch in the three-way tie for 1st and sealed it. He'll be a great asset to the Easton comp's one day. His smile is the reason I take these contests on every year. I love to see those kids try and succeed - any or all of them. I can only applaud ALL the jr goose callers from that day.

BP,
as usual yall put on a great event. good job to all contestants and congrats to all winners. i had a great time and look forward to it next year. thanks to everyone involved and the judges for providing their time to help out.
hey as far as the weather goes, the majority of us are duck/goose hunters, we are supposed to like nasty weather. look on the bright side, it was a good day for the kids to shoot ducks on the youth hunt.
WAIT A SECOND, WAIT A SECOND..... TAKE'EM
