New ECU coach

Postby Quack Krazy » Fri Jan 15, 2010 12:16 pm

Holland flew down to Lousiana yesterday.
Heard the new coach has some connection to Lousiana Tech...
Wonder who this could be? Guess we'll find out later today...

It could be Tommy Bowden. Rumor has it he was in LA yesterday on a duck hunting trip with Phil Robertson

Tommy was on a triangle area sports radio station this morning talking about the ECU job.

Tommy Bowden would be a nice addition to the program. He may not have done much at Clemson but his name will bring in recruits.

Well so much for Tommy Bowden being the new coach.

You wouldn't want TB anyway. He's a loser.

I forgot about this post....

I'm excited ~ very excited. Before he came into the ECU picture and Texas Tech hired Tuberville - the players, students & fans wanted Ruffin to be their next head coach. TT admin wanted a bigger name w/head coach experience. Obviously, the fan base & players loved him down in Texas and that speaks volumes in my book.

Time will tell. He's from Lumberton, played at ECU and most of his family (bros, sisters, etc) are Pirate Alumni. He did pretty well w/the recruiting considering the hand he was dealt. I read where he was one of the lead recruiters for TT, so hopefully next year he'll be able to tap into the talent in Texas as well as here in NC - That will be HUGE if he does.
He's a Pirate and bleeds Purple....

I don't think he'll leave ECU for another coaching job. If he can win, he'll be here a long time and in my opinion that's exactly what we need. A loyal coach who won't use our program as a stepping stone...he's said this was his dream job - again, time will tell.

I'm glad we got him, and wish him the best. As a Pirate, I'll support him until I have a good reason not to....

absolutely! that being said, i know he has the potential to do great things but if we cant keep the guys on the team together without screwing up all the time then were in trouble like usual. alot of issued come from the palyers imo.

Just for the record, you could swap out ECU/McNeill for UNC/Bunting in that post, and you would be echoing what us Heel fans were saying about 10 years ago. Hope it works out better for y'all than it did for us.
