We are not trying to be disrespectful but just giving you a friendly warning. If anyone comes on an open forum with news telling all the world that I am stacking 'em up on Sutton Lake right by the boat landing and tomorrow morning there are no parking spaces at that boat landing for you then don't get upset! Now I know that the Neuse River runs from the coast to the piedmont so you haven't given us YOUR place so probably no duck hunter in their right mind will give you their's. What the hook and face means is this internet is full of folks looking for your hunting spots from their easy chair. Just trying to be helpful. I know I learned the hard way. Hope you are having a wonderful New Year. And welcome to the board.

Wow, you guys are a lot more polite than most websites. I don't get offended when people ask info(even though I ain't giving up my honey hole over the web). In fact, this season, the term honey hole is being stretched a little. I am seeing a lot of ducks, rafted up and not moving.

On Duck Hunting Chat, they would have already tarred and feathered this poor guy. :sos:

Why harass him for his post.all he did was let most everyone in nc know the neuse has ducks. Last time I checked that's a lot of water to cover.besides most people aren't equipped to hunt big water like that safely. If he wants every boat ramp loaded with Jr commanders and his spot shot out that's his problem. No reason to give him heck about it.

Unless you quietly hunt there, too, normally. Then he loads you up with jr.commanders and you have to go somewhere else and intrude on somebody else's area. Then it's a bunch of folks' problem.

I agree, but I log on to that NC Duck Hunting Chat occasionally just to see the controversy(I have never posted there). I like this website, there is none of the blatant rudeness that is SOP at most hunting sites. I have seen a new guy who knows nothing about duck hunting other than he wants to do it post up what I consider a legitimate question only to be crucified by the "regulars" on NC Duck Hunting Chat. One guy posted up pictures of his first ever duck hunt, with a limit of 6 ducks and he wanted to know what kind they were. They were coots.

Now that is funny, and he should be in for a little good natured ribbing, but those guys ate him alive. I have seen those guys go ballistic over "cyber-scouting" to the point you cannot even ask questions about boat ramps or if hunting is allowed on a certain lake.

Duck Sausage is asking for GPS coordinates . I am not giving up any of my hunting spots to anyone that I don't know, but I will not be rude to a new guy looking for places to hunt. I am just marveling over the politeness of this website. It is why I like it here, this is the only hunting website I go to.

ducksausage, no one is going to give up any GPS coordinates. I am not saying this to be a jerk, it is the nature of the game. A honey hole, is by definition, a place no one else knows about. If others begin to hunt it, it ceases to be a honey hole and becomes just another hunting spot that you hope someone didn't blow out the day before you came in to hunt it.

When I first came here thirty years ago, I pretty much hunted most places by myself. Other than PP,CC, Hyde Co., etc, no one hunted ducks around here. I had a dozen boat ramps at which I would not see another boat at the entire season(back then fishermen winterized their boat in Oct and didn't crank it back up till April). When people asked me if I hunted, they would ask me what hunting club I was in. When I would tell them I didn't hunt deer, I hunted ducks, they would look at me like I fell off the moon. I hunted on the Neuse River, between Kinston and New Bern(more around New Bern)and had little to no competition. There was a guy from New Bern I would bump into 2 to 5 times a season(hunting 3 times a week). Occasionally I would go down to PP or CC, then I would see hunters, but never more than 5 or 6 boats.

Now the majority of places I hunt are ruined. My little honey hole next to the house is shot out by every teenager in the county. My favorite hunting spot in New Bern has turned into a circus that I refuse to participate in. I have spots on the Pamlico Sound that would have 5 or 6 boats at the ramp, I went there last week and counted 38 trucks.

Here ya go big guy, we shot a 5 man limit of sea ducks right here this past weekend. Plenty of birds for everyone and perfectly safe for your 16 foot boat. You really need it to be blowing about 25-30 mph though. 43 33.804N/65 55.831W

Pics from your hunts should be in order if your lucky enough to get to our spots alone. Glad it's the end of the season for me. Might be worth watching the fights at the boat ramp though.
