Postby zwatters021 » Thu Jan 28, 2010 7:32 pm

Has anyone hunted with them or know someone who has and how was it?

Looking at booking a hunt for my dad and I next season and he wants to stay close by...

Thanks

I haven't been there, I spoke to someone this evening that owns land near by there and said they have waterfowl. It's east of Englehard, NC. on hwy 264. Might be a good place to take your dad.

Pretty sure you are talking about "Wildfowler"; Wild Wing Adventures is Culley Wilsons guide service.

The gentleman I spoke with called it Wild Wings Adventures just out side of Englehard, I'd give them a call to find out.

Wild Wing at Engelhard is Bob Hester's place and it is an expensive private club. Wild Wing Adventures is Culley Wilson's setup and he has flooded timber hunts. I have not hunted with either.

Wild Wings, Hester's impoundment by the prison, is without a doubt a private club. I very good one at that.

I have hunted at the private club wild wings, top notch was a guest and turned into one of the better hunts ive had in NC. granted that was 7 years ago on a youth hunt, still I killed my first bull sprig to top off a bag of baldies and teal. Even got my first taste of a barnyard mallard.
I would rather miss in the morning than strike out the previous night

I was told both of Hester's clubs are a $10,000 buy in for 5 years, then $1400 a day for a blind with a minimum of 8 days per season for the 5 years.

Thats the reason i'm not in a duck club. The $ involved in a good club is ridiculous!!

I hunted Wild Wing this year and it was in fact awesome. The only way you can hunt Hester's is with a member.

He's not going to mess with pay by the day hunters when he has members that will abide by his rules and he trusts. Members pay up front so he has money in hand before the season starts.

Bob Hester ran a commercial guide service for years. He is old school and known by all. He put that private club together quite a few years ago and from what you have seen from the cost, it's not in the average Joe's budget. Good operation, however.

10,000 will not get you into it now. There is an up front initiation fee and the rumor is that the ANNUAL dues are going to 20,000 up from 11,000.

You'd have to dip the damned ducks in gold to get me to pay that.

I happen to ride by his place a few years ago, I didn't know who owned it at the time, but he sure had the fowl. I don't think I had ever seen as many pintails as he had. I understand it hasn't changed. You are right, to expensive for me!

What, no way! If a bunch of guys are spending that kind of money to hunt together in "private blinds" there must be something else going on there? Oh well, "don't ask, don't tell". Anyone know if they have any silent investors? Barney Frank perhaps? I'm afraid to even ask about what the "initiation fee" may be! :biglaugh: :cheerleader:
